In the late 70s, several Muslim families moved into the area and were disappointed to learn that there was not a single Masjid located within 40 miles.
Initially Jumuah and Taraweeh prayers were conducted at these family homes but as the number of Muslim families grew it became apparent that a place to conduct prayers in congregation and educate their children was necessary and hence the concept of establishing an Islamic Center was set.
In 1984 a small church was purchased and has evolved over the years into today’s sprawling Islamic Center of San Gabriel Valley (ICSGV).
That transformation is owed to many dedicated and generous individuals and the community at large.
The primary goal of the founders of the Islamic Center was the education of children and to this day the Center remains true and dedicated to that goal.
